Ashbourne Road, Derby - then and now

Jump to: navigation, search

Apart from some superficial changes to windows and signs, the removal of a couple of chimney pots and attic windows, this row of buildings on Ashbourne Road, has remained essentially the same since the 1960s.

The one major change is the disappearance of Ye Old Oak Tea Shop and its chocolate box facade to be replaced by the modern, no-nonsense Markeaton fish bar.

The pub, now The Gallant, is still there as is the wrought-iron bracket above what is now a watch and clock repair shop.

Do you remember the tea shop? Do you have any tales to tell about it? Add you memories below or by going to the Discussion link above.
