THIS excellent old photograph is of Derby Arboretum Bowls Club, which closed last year after a run of 144 years.

Sadly, falling numbers meant the club had to say goodbye.

The picture fell out of a book loaned to Dorothy Page, of Littleover.

By sheer coincidence, her husband’s grandfather, Herbert Page, is standing far right.

“He lived in Uttoxeter New Road near the hospital,” said Dorothy. “His son, also Herbert, bought a butcher’s shop in Cambridge Street in the early 1950s.

“His daughter, Beattie Harrison, also lived in Cambridge Street.

“I no longer have the book but I noticed, on the fly leaf, a name and address in Cambridge Street. I would love to know who the people were who owned the book and the photograph.”
