Derbyshire Characters - And The Nominees Are...

Jump to: navigation, search

One of our running themes at You and Yesterday is to feature what we have called 'Derbyshire Characters'. The subjects who fall into this category may not be 'famous' in the wider world, nor even 'celebrities' in the modern sense, but instead became 'well-known' for an unusual quality or eccentricity.

The reputation of some of these characters was confined to a single village or town, or even their own immediate family. But in other cases their special 'attributes' - not always desirable ones at that - got them known much further afield.

Perhaps you have a nomination - the sort of unusual individual who 'everybody knew'. It could even be an unsung member of your own family, maybe a long-forgotten ancestor who you would like to pay tribute to. Nor do they have to be human - one of our best-loved characters on the site is Tip the dog!

So why not consider creating an article about a Derbyshire character? Long or short, it doesn't matter - every contribution adds to our ever-growing archive of Derbyshire-related stories.

The following articles concerning Derbyshire characters have already been submitted. Just click on a title to read more.
