London Road, Alvaston - then and now
The photograp on the left, is undated but looks as though it was taken around the 1930s or early 40s. There are trolleybus wires overhead and they were not introduced in Derby until 1934.
Apart from the increased traffic, the scene has not changed drastically. The garage has been altered or rebuilt and is now a tyre centre, no longer serving petrol. Can you see the old pumps?
CR Moseley’s building is still there, though boarded up, and looking as though it is going to follow the fate of the similar, attractive building next door.
But several of the houses have survived. Can you tell us about some of the changes?
