London Road, Derby - then and now

Jump to: navigation, search

This excellent photograph, above left, shows London Road, Derby, in 1908. The entrance to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary can be seen on the right and St Andrew’s Church, which was demolished in December 1969, is in the distance. To the left is a tram stop with a couple of trams approaching.

There seems to be a strange mix of transport with horses and carriages and bicycles alongside what looks like an early motor car.

Many of the buildings appear to be the same and some of the trees seem to have survived the years. Can you spot any differences, apart from the traffic? Add your comments by going to the Discussion link.
