Manners Street, Ilkeston - then and now
The photograph above left shows Manners Street, Ilkeston, in about the 1950s. The parade was possibly connected with the Festival of Britain celebrations in May 1951.
The street does not appeared to have changed much at all over the past 50 years – apart from the introduction of double-glazing and a few satellite dishes.
The houses across the bottom appear to have had extensions or awnings in the 1950s. Were they shops? Do you recognise anyone or remember the event, pictured? Add your memories below by going to the Edit link at the top of the page.
