Repton School
Repton School, founded in 1557, is one of the most famous co-educational public schools (theoretically an independent school or private school, but was awarded the 'dignity of a public school' because of its fame and ancestry.) in the UK.
Some of the remains of the oldest buildings in the village of Repton date back to the 6th century.
Famous old Reptonians include: Olympic athlete Harold Abrahams; comedian Graeme Garden; author Roald Dahl; journalist and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson; actor Basil Rathbone; former Archbishop of Canterbury Michael Ramsey and lyricist and broadcasting executive Eric Maschwitz.
