Stainsby House
Stainsby House at Smalley was the home of the Sitwell family. It was bought by Edward Sacheverell Wilmot Sitwell in 1785. His descendant, Robert Sacheverell Wilmot Sitwell, who was a barrister and MP, lived there in Victorian times.
The old house was demolished in 1971-72 and replaced by a Spanish-style ranch.
Ernest Smith recorded the demolition work with his camera in March 1972. Below are some of his photographs.
