Talk:Bath Street Mill: Fate of historic mill is to go under hammer
I remember the Bath Street mill very well from the 1950s as my uncles D E Spriggs and A R Spriggs both then ran the Derby Cotton Mill Co. in the building.
My uncle let me use some of his tools which I used to make radios in the factory. I was a schoolboy at the time and my hobby contrasted with the noise from the belt-driven overhead machine shafts and clattering textile machines.
A falloff in the textile trade forced the closure of the cotton mill on June 24, 1958. My uncle, Allen Spriggs, age 96, who was a founder member of the Derby Pathfinders Motorcycle Club, is still alive and living in Wales.
