Leonard Street
Sorry I can't add anything about the Serenaders but I notice that 2 of the families involved lived in Leonard Street. My Mum kept a shop there (opposite Grove Street) and I would be fascinated to hear from anyone who remembers her. She was Grace Taylor and her little boy William died, aged 5, soon after Christmas 1945. The whole street were very supportive and she told me many tales about how she and the the neighbours got through those difficult war years. We left when I was about seven in 1956. She had remarried and I was the child of she and Donal MacMahon - Mac to his friends. My memories are very hazy but I remember Florrie White, Roy and May Baker and the Gartons among others of my Mum's neighbours. Does anyone remember her?
