The Old Oak Tea Shop came into existance in the mid 1980's, before that it was a house, I know this is fact as I was involved with the the owner of the building, he and his wife took on the job of making a business from the building that need a lot of repair including a new roof. The builder/joiner renovated the property and opened it as a tearoom. Soon after the tearoom was changed into the now fish and chip shop. Further up Ashbourne Road is a Chinese Take Away this was the the original Markeaton fish and chip shop, owner Bill his wife and daughter Dianne.
