Talk:Wonderful teachers planted a desire to succeed in life
Miss Benniston
My name is George Stevens. My wife and I have lived in Weymouth in Dorset since 1960, and for most of that time we have been close friends of Miss Benniston who was a teacher at Spondon House School in the period (approximately) 1939 to 1961. The only firm date I have really is that Miss Benniston came to Weymouth in 1961 to take up the position of Head Mistress at a girls' school.
Dr Terry Mathers' article gave Miss Benniston personal praise, and 'Bennie' was very proud to show us the newspaper cutting of the article when she came to our home yesterday (4th October 2007) as part of the celebration of her 94th birthday.
I would be glad to pass on good wishes to 'Bennie' from ex-pupils who remember her. 'Bennie' has kept herself fit by playing golf and bowls and walking, but her health is failing now. I know it would give her enormous pleasure to hear from ex-pupils, especially as Education has been the main motivation for most of her life.
