Trent and Mersey Canal - then and now

Jump to: navigation, search

One thing these two pictures of the Trent and Mersey Canal at Willington show is how rapidly some tree species grow.

Over the past 22 years, this pleasant scene has changed little. Even the lifebelt is still in the same position, although the fence is a little worse for wear.

One assumes that the house is still there behind the trees, which do an excellent job of screening it.

There appear to be a few more canal boats which implies, as both pictures were taken in the winter season, that interest in canal holidays has increased. Do you have any canal stories to impart? Add your comments by going to the Discussion link.
