Victoria Street, Derby - then and now

Victoria Street, Derby, has seen more changes than many cityscapes over the past fifty years. Above is the street scene in the 1950s, dominated by Ranby’s department store, later Debenhams. Either side of Ranby's are two buildings that were demolished in 1961 - the Queen’s Head pub to the left, and the Congregational Church on the right.

Right is the street as it appeared in 2007. Although the building remains, Debenhams itself has now moved to the new Westfield shopping centre.
