Willington Post Office - then and now

Jump to: navigation, search

The Post Office at Willington is one of a dwindling number which has managed to survive the various cutbacks over the years.

Essentially it has not changed since the picture, above left, was taken more than 40 years ago.

But the advertisements certainly reflect the changing times. At least five, and possibly more, brands of cigarette – Player’s, Cadets, Guards, Senior Service and Woodbine – are advertised. Today, the only “vice” visible is the National Lottery sign.

In 1966, you could buy Wrigley’s chewing gum from a machine on the wall. Now you can buy Euros.
